Hospitality Decorating Trends 2022

  • test : test

Many hotel chains began to shift their focus on the way they design and decorate their hotel in order to accommodate the changes going on in the world. In this article we will look at some of the changes in the decoration and arrangement of hotel areas.

  1. Climate Changed the Industry

In 2022, after being under lockdown and being limited to where they can travel, travellers are dying to have access to fresh air and open space. Over the last two years, outdoor space has been crucial for hotels and this is still an area we’re seeing many hotel brands invest in. Some hotels are even creating outdoor work stations at the pool or beach to ensure that everyone’s needs are catered to. An earthy colour palette, unengineered finishes and an abundance of plant life are all key to developing

this trend while outdoors. Some eco-friendly ideas include installing water bottle refilling stations in the lobby (or on multiple floors) and adding signs in rooms to encourage bath towel reuse. Keyless entry reduces the need for plastic cards and automated lighting and room sensors can help reduce energy consumption. This also includes the topic of secondary consumption and eco-friendly ways to introduce healthy habits into the life of the hotel and its guests. Integrating outdoor spaces in urban environments, such as rooftop amenities, will be a big driver for both hotels and residential developments in the future. From sustainable flooring and other eco-friendly building materials to installing green walls and encouraging environmental-friendly energy practices, there are plenty of options to incorporate sustainability into any hotel design or renovation. We have already mentioned this in one of our first articles on the website about the renovation of your own home. As sustainability remains at the forefront of everyone’s minds, locally made and sourced finishes and furnishings will become an even greater priority.

  1. Technology Trends

As the use of technology increases, some hotels are incorporating iPads for people to check in  instead of having to wait in line and check in at a desk. Tablets are also a feature in the guest rooms, so people can learn more about the local area and explore options. Keyless room entry with smartphone apps, USB ports in rooms and lobbies and automated check-in and check-out capabilities are some additional examples. The latest trends also include health and energy-saving technologies such as innovative air purification systems, water filters, motion sensors and automatic water stop. So, things like the use of several types of plumbing are in vogue such as shower area and bathtub, high-quality finishing materials, decor items such as floor vases, designer lights, live plants, heated floors, innovative air conditioning, ventilation systems, and smart mirrors with built-in TV.

  1. The Beauty of Themed Hotels

Entertainment and hospitality design has always been about creating moments that are unique and leave a lasting impression on guests. For example, Adventure Suites in North Conway, New Hampshire offers themed rooms that include a jungle safari, movie theater, deserted island, haunted castle, treehouse and wine cellar. At Winvian Farm, you can stay in a fully restored Pelican helicopter or a sophisticated treehouse 35 feet above the ground.  To open up more room, designers and hotels have started to change the idea of what a hotel room layout should be. The design should be warm and inviting but it should also be fun. Don’t be afraid to have a theme with your hotel. If you aren’t ready to be adventurous with your hotel that’s completely fine. We still have some ideas as to how you can work on the layout of your space. When it comes to the flooring light wood is back, popping up in everything from flooring to furniture, accent walls, and cabinetry.

Likewise, the time when all floors, walls and ornaments had a single finish is history… Today and into 2022 we’ll see varied styles, and people daring to incorporate different colors, textures and materials.

  1. Saving Space: Creative Ideas

The lobbies have also turned into working spaces with long tables surrounded by chairs, and even longer centre tables next to the waiting areas. In large cities, where renting a square meter is very expensive, and there are not so many places, hotels have begun to combine practicality and convenience with space savings. For example, in a guestroom, the lounge seating will have one continental or dining height table that acts as all three functions, and the use of millwork or case pieces that incorporate closets, dressers, and amenities for the room in one condensed unit is incredibly popular.

Also, as for the restaurants in the hotels themselves. In the future, instead of just serving as a convenient dining outlet for internal guests, more hotel dining outlets will be regarded as valuable revenue-generating spaces independent of the hotel, with unique concepts, menus, and designs that will entice both hotel guests and locals in the community. Minimalism will manifest itself in 2022. Especially in a hospitality context, guests not only want simple, but simple done exceptionally well. You can also expect to see even more creative ideas for multifunctional rooms, with every nook and cranny taken advantage of as our relationship with the home continues to evolve and clean, innovative room-dividing tactics ensue.
